Nick lives in Austin TX doing computer nerdy stuff during the day and catching live music during the night.
The following is a list of services crunkbox can offer the artist right now.
I used big bold letters cause they look quite official..
Offer a more complete online store
We offer all the services hosting media and also the kitchen sink.
If there's another feature we should add to these accounts, lets do it.
Make a quality CD duplication product
Crunkbox can produce your cd with jacket and ready to ship for less than
two dollars a unit.
These are units we are duplicating to fulfill actual sales.
The unique thing about us is that we will do one-offs.
For the wholesale price of 1.50 per most duplication companies just won't budge
for less than 100 units.
In this case we are printing off singles based off orders coming in through
your online store.
This is production, inventory, shipping, administration and sales all handled
for the artist so they can get back to writing.
Generate merchandise sales for members using an aggressive e-commerce
campaign
Our promoters want to sit at home and make money.
That's a whole deal beween us and them - showing these guys how to do it.
Crunkbox puts it's money into promoting artists online.
It's so perfect for both of us. By only promoting the artist we can drive
traffic here.
The whole marketing strategy of the site is a having your cake and eating it
too affair.
By getting your media out there and driving traffic back to your store (tour
dates, blogs, pics, vids, et al) we both win.
Which is nice.
Promote our members using traditional industry standards
Ultimately the plan doesn't work without human interaction.
Action occurs in clubs, bars and homes around the globe.
The whole music scene is feuled by alchohol and ciggarettes.
Therefore, considering our marketing position, we hold house parties, shows -
even showcases to promote our bands.
In short - that's the entire strategy.. Build a great website, get out there
and promote.
Crunkbox's business plan is basically two steps - build the site, promote the
bands.
Organize and facilitate a community of promoters and agents
If we can provide online tools for our artists, why not also other promoters
like us.
Why not guys/gals who want to promote bands? They love and know music. Some
play some don't.
But they can party, they can talk and they can act on your behalf.
So what if Crunkbox looked at project management as a model.
And gave promoters a financial motivation to book shows and sell merch.
That doesn't sound too hard to us.
Agents that sell merch take a cut of the profit.
But they also build a name for themselves.
They gain experience in this industry.
We feed them information and provide them both tasks and goals.
These promoters are either accreddited agents or studying to become so.
Build a journalism system that artists can take advantage of
This is a music community and we all need fresh information.
So we find journalists. You might be suprised how many people love to write and
love music.
And who will combine those passions for just ad revenue dollars.
We give them 100% of those earnings.
And they go to these shows. They take picutes.
These great people come back to computers and write better tuned verses than
this one.
And at the end of all that, they write reviews and exposes that an artist can
use as marketing currency.
Once again - it's win win.
Build relationships with venues for the benefit of our members
The venues we have listed currently were researched by actual people.
We took the time to establish their booking information and get familiar with
their style.
It is true we are more familiar with some venues than others.
Also true is that creating relationships with venues is a platform of an
agent's duties.
Let's face it, we are indie music - venues are the office.
Provide access to a comprehensive list of music conventions, contests and
concerts
Members recieve access to our directory of the music universe.
Once again, having a website with databases and all, comes in handy.
We look it up the artist gets the benefits.
Provide the artist a great epk
EPK is an electronic press kit.
I mean, it is what it is. It's a pdf formatted press kit.
We can tweak it out to your specifications, but even as it - it does the trick.
Traditional press release kits
We have your merch.
Heck we are the ones making it.
With us artists can go online and send actual swag wherever.
I take a flyer, info sheet and demo (possibly tshirt) and send it off and away.
The artist pays the wholesale cost of it - but it's easy and gets done.
Respect the member’s intellectual property
This is one of the many ways Crunkbox is superior to a deal with a major label.
An artist is giving us permission to sell their stuff and promote the band.
Once they pull the account we hold no claim to thier work.
The cool thing is, if an artist gets signed to an exclusive contact and can't
sell on crunkbox anymore, we still win.
That's cause for a party. We get to celebrate and pat ourselves on the back
when that happens.
It is the artist's work and they retain full creative control.
Empower our members to effectively market themselves.
Crunkbox.com is looking for working musicians.
Someone who uploads their stuff and expects to be off to the races is sorely
mistaken.
Doing it yourself - going indie - self promotion requires action.
But we can help out by offering the benefits of a community.
It is about using this website (or any website) to connect with others.
Learning from and working with others.
The internet can be a big voice - if used correctly.
As the site grows, so will our list of services.
This group of people are just crazy enough to build a one stop shop for the
indie artist.
As long as we stay open about cost and benefit - this idea will work
like charm.
