With only 3 members, they’re sound is powerful, melodic, and memorable to the ears. Stylistically, they sound like six musicians combined. Imagine a collision of Stevie Wonders’ soulful vocals, Stevie Ray Vaughn’s guitar chops, Incubus’ funk and grooves with the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ high energy and delivery. Now combine that musical scenario with strong hooks, universal lyrics and youth, and will get their definition of the Philosophy of Soul.
Brothers Danny and Andy Avila are musical hybreds from a family of successful musicians. Sons of the Great Sam Avila a successful B3 organ blues player with the well known Walter Trout band and nephews to grammy nominated John Avila producer (Reel Big Fish)and former bass player for Oingo Boingo. Supa Steve Castillo is also deeply immeresed with a musical family whose roots are spread into jazz with latin contemporary traditional and folk music.
These boys may be young but have been performing since age 10 and have the musical chops of their seniors. Although they play Alternative Rock they can move outside thier genre with ease and confidence. Guitarist Danny Avila won several rounds of the Guitar Center KING OF THE BLUES competitions only to loose a finale to his mentor the well respected Johnny Lightning.
Philosophy of Soul is well versted in Beatles, Blues, Classic Rock, R&B, and Pop but thier passion derrives from thier own "signature" alternative rock sound.
