About
"Amplified Heat sounds like it took the blues, made it snort a serious dose of cocaine and turned up the amps." - The State News

Even though the Ortiz brothers have been on the Austin music scene since 1999, they emerged as Amplified Heat in 2003, stemming from a stripped-down blues outfit originally formed in Houston. Blowing out the speakers of clubs around Austin and its surrounding areas, they quickly garnered die-hard fans who craved the earsplitting mixture of old-school blues and raw to the bone rock. They also caught the attention of local label Arclight Records, who quickly signed on to debut the trio's first label release. In for Sin (2004) received rave reviews from critics and fans alike who took notice of the band's loud, raucous sound created from a musicianship in the works since they began playing together 14 years ago.

They have been described as a "swirling vortex of blood, spit, and history" by the Austin Chronicle and as "loose and lethal, down and dirty Tex-**** booze blooze rock (think pre-disco-supercomputer ZZ Top); a sweaty, stubbled, fried-to-a-crisp-in-the-desert-sun power trio" by The Week in Metal.

For the past couple of years, Amplified Heat has been busy touring extensively throughout the U.S. They have also recently returned to the studio to record their follow-up to In for Sin. Different from their debut, the new material will feature influences of what the brothers have been listening to on the road: early rock like ZZ Top, Freddie King, Deep Purple and Moving Sidewalks.
